I had the pleasure of being featured in a PCON story focused on improving individualized patient care – here’s a flashback to a good quick read on value of shared decision making (SDM) from the in the January 2016 issue of Primary Care Optometry News. I’m an active member of the Society for Medical Decision Making (SMDM); I’ve studied SDM in the treatment of chronic vision impairment. I also was fortunate to be appointed to the SMDM Policy Committee and over the years I’ve worked to promote SDM within optometric education and clinical practice. Included in this article is information from Dr. Peter Ubel, someone who I have followed and read over the past decade (he’s recommended reading!). Please click here to read on in PCON.
